There is no charge for opening NRI account with SBI branches in India.
However, you may incur the following:
- Post/courier charge - On actual basis
- Remittance charges - £5* per remittance to India (for customers of State Bank of India, UK).
- £20 per remittance to India (for non-customers of State Bank of India, UK). The charges will be waived for the purpose of opening NRI FD accounts with State Bank of India in India.
*Individual account holders of SBI, UK who maintain the minimum balance required in accordance with the terms and conditions of the account are eligible to transfer funds FREE of charge.
- Cash handling charge for remittances - £3 per £1000 or part thereof
